Before leading the firm as the first woman to serve as Chair, she also served as the chief federal law enforcement officer for the Eastern District of Missouri, the only woman Speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives and for five years on staff for U.S. Senator Kit Bond. As U.S. Attorney, she supervised more than 4,000 criminal, affirmative and defensive civil cases and personally tried cases to jury verdicts. She also supervised and assisted in the development of cutting-edge theories of criminal prosecution.

Catherine was recently among 99 others marching behind the “Years of Hope – Years of Courage” float in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, commemorating the 100th anniversary of women's constitutional right to vote. Joining Catherine in period dress were the great-great-great grandniece of Harriet Tubman, the great-great-granddaughter of Elizabeth Cady Stanton, the great-great-great grandson of Frederick Douglass, an ancestor of Susan B. Anthony, and the great-granddaughter of suffragist Ida B. Wells. The year leading up to the project included Catherine, countless volunteers, sponsors and organizers who raised $350,000 without corporate backing.
